Mike Collins

Mike Collins is Managing Director of Management Recruiters of North Canton, a recruitment solutions leader within the Information Technology industry.  He has over 20 years of experience in IT, first as a Manager for Aircraft Braking Systems and then with Goodyear Aerospace.  In 1997 he transferred his in-depth knowledge of the industry to direct recruitment of Impact Players in IT where he has helped companies such as Western Reserve Group, Therma-Tru Door Systems, JM Smucker Company, Wayne Dalton, Simonton Windows, Nationwide Childrens Hospital Childrens Hospital Akron and Citizens Hospital of Barberton, Ohio.

Over the last 24 months, specific positions he has identified, recruited and negotiated for include CIO, Director of Information Systems, IT Managers, Project Managers, Applications Analysts, Network Engineers, Business Analysts, Desktop Support (Help Desk) Managers, Analyst Programmers and Web Developers.

Mike has earned numerous awards as a top performer within the MRINetwork including Rookie of the Year in 1998 and Account Executive of the Year in 2000.  He has earned the distinction of being named a Pacesetter for three years which recognizes those recruiters who are in the top 15% of the MRINetwork.  Mike has also earned the title of CSAM (Certified Senior Account Manager) which is awarded only to those recruiters who achieve educational, performance and tenure requirements. His commitment to the IT field is demonstrated by his participation in a local industry roundtable of senior IT executives which is sponsored by the University of Akron’s College of Business.  Mike has also been a speaker at executive recruiter conferences.

Mike has an MBA (concentration on Information Systems) from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron

Personal Philosophy
Recruitment is a people business and we need to treat it that way.  With job dissatisfaction around 70% right now, as the economy begins to get better, many positions will become vacant and people will be transitioning all over the country.  It’s essential that employers find the right candidates for their many openings, and merely looking at resumes and conducting a single interview is usually not enough.  Currently 44% of Hiring Managers say that their biggest surprise is that the person who shows up on the job is not the one they interviewed!   My business is knowing talented people in the IT industry and being able to find that special person to fit your needs – I’ve developed relationships over the years and truly know people.  When I partner with your company, you have the benefit of my years of knowledge, judgment and integrity.  I want our relationship to be long term and for your company to be successful as a result of the people that I bring to you.  Making successful placements and partnering with companies around the country has become my life’s mission.
